St. Antonius and St. Joseph Clinical Complex
About the clinic
The clinic is renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art operating equipment.
According to the prestigious FOCUS magazine, St. Antonius Hospital is one of the best medical facilities in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The clinical complex was formed by the merger of two large independent medical institutions in 2009 – the St. Anthony Clinic and the St. Josef Clinic. They were later joined by the Vogelsangstrasse Clinic and the Petrus Clinic. Today, these 4 institutions provide care to patients in a wide range of diseases, the leading among them being otolaryngology and oncology. The Department of Otolaryngology under the direction of Prof. Götz Lehnerdt deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of hearing, ENT organs (ears, larynx, pharynx, nose), as well as salivary glands, upper esophagus and cranial nerves coming out of the head and neck region. Special attention is given to the treatment of hearing loss, voice changes (dysphonia) and speech difficulties (dysarthria) in children and adults. Together with his team, Götz Lehnerdt helps patients to regain their hearing with cochlear implants, hearing aids, surgical treatment of pathologies of the outer ear and salivary glands. The innovative method of laser surgery of the upper respiratory and digestive tracts through the sinuses and lacrimal ducts allows to perform interventions with minimal traumatization compared to the open method. Another direction of the department is aesthetic plastic surgery with correction of the shape of the nose and ears, as well as skin on the face and neck, including eyelids. The staff of the department pays special attention to the post-operative care of the patient. Laryngeal cancer and tongue cancer are the most common cancers in the oral region. The Otolaryngology Department performs histologic diagnosis and surgical treatment of malignant neoplasms, preliminarily coordinating the plan and scope of surgical intervention with all necessary allied specialists.
