Manfred Zehender is a specialist in internal medicine, cardiology, intensive care, interventional cardiology and arrhythmology and medical director of the Max Grundig Clinic since October 2023. He has conducted research at the Universities of Maastricht (Netherlands), Minneapolis (USA), Boston (USA) and others, and has more than 600 publications that have been honored with numerous national and international scientific awards. In recognition of a large number of multi-year collaborative projects in Kiev (Ukraine), Astana (Kazakhstan) and Tashkent (Uzbekistan), the Kazakh University of Almaty awarded him the title of Honorary Doctor in 2010. Prof. Zender is a member of various professional societies as well as numerous supervisory, advisory and consultative committees

1983 – Qualification examination and doctorate at the Gutenberg University in Mainz

1994 – Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, receiving the title of professor

2010 – Awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of the Kazakh National Medical University, Almaty.

2021 – University of Lüneburg, Faculty of Economics, PhD on “Strategic Organizational Development in Modern Hospitals”

Work experience

Served as senior physician and deputy medical director of the University Cardiology Center Freiburg-Bad Krozingen for more than 20 years

chaired the KONZEPT 2020 strategy committee at the University Hospital Freiburg for more than ten years

served on the scientific advisory board of the Max Grundig Clinic for 10 years.
