Professor Mortini performs surgeries in the skull base area, surgical treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, brain and spinal cord tumors. He has performed more than 8,000 neurosurgical interventions and stereotactic radiosurgery procedures using the gamma knife. In 2020, the professor performed the world’s first operation to excise a brain meningioma using a robotoscope. The Department of Neurosurgery he heads is an internationally recognized center of expertise in the treatment of pituitary tumors. Pietro Mortini focuses not only on clinical practice but also on research. He has designed more than 60 new instruments for microneurosurgery and published 230 scientific papers.
