HOTEL DESCRIPTION

Hotel Kempinski Palace Portorož is one of Slovenia’s most iconic hotels and the main symbol of the Portorož resort. It is located in the very heart of the city, within a five-hectare park, just a few steps from the Adriatic Sea.

The complex consists of two buildings. The historical palace was built in 1910 by architect Georg Ede and immediately became a symbol of early 20th-century resort luxury. Its façade was designed in the Art Nouveau style, featuring marble, stucco, and crystal chandeliers in the interiors.

Almost a century later, in 2008, a new building was added. Its architecture is minimalist and contemporary — spacious interiors, panoramic windows, and open terraces overlooking the sea. The two buildings are connected by a covered walkway.

Since its opening, Kempinski Palace Portorož has been a preferred destination for distinguished guests. Over the years, the hotel has hosted Sophia Loren, Marcello Mastroianni, Yul Brynner, Lex Barker, Orson Welles, Josip Broz Tito, Adriano Celentano, and others.

The hotel offers 181 rooms in the following categories:

The hotel features two à la carte restaurants, both offering a modern interpretation of local and Mediterranean cuisine.

Sophia, named after Italian actress Sophia Loren, specializes in Mediterranean gastronomy. The menu includes fresh seafood such as lobster with asparagus ragout, tufoli pasta with lobster and saffron foam, as well as meat delicacies and truffle dishes. The restaurant is open in the evenings.

Fleur de Sel is located on the hotel’s ground floor with a terrace overlooking the park. It combines signature presentation with traditional Istrian cuisine: fuži with truffles, seafood risotto, sea bass baked in salt, and Wagyu beef burger.

The hotel also offers several lounge bars and a café serving pralines and macarons with Italian coffee roasted exclusively for the hotel’s guests.
