University Hospital Freiburg is one of the oldest medical institutions in Europe, founded more than 560 years ago. It is a multidisciplinary clinic, which allows it to provide diagnostics and treatment in almost all specialties.
All oncology departments of the University Hospital Freiburg are combined into an innovative, high-tech oncology center. A whole team of doctors from different specialties, including related fields (radiologists, ultrasound specialists), manages the patient’s care. A board of physicians develops an individualized plan for each clinical case.
In the ophthalmology department of the University Hospital Freiburg, specialists provide treatment for cataracts and glaucoma, age-related and traumatic retinal dystrophies, as well as perform surgeries for myopia. A unique feature of the department is its own cornea bank, available for patients requiring transplantation.
In the urology department of the University Hospital Freiburg, patients with prostate tumors undergo high-tech procedures such as HOLEP, aqua-ablation, and Da Vinci robotic surgery. The minimally invasive approach helps avoid complications and ensures faster recovery.
The specialists of the nuclear medicine department at the University Hospital Freiburg have taken a major step toward innovative solutions: the clinic currently offers successful treatment with radioactive iodine for benign and malignant thyroid diseases, radioligand therapy for neuroendocrine tumors, as well as selective internal radiation therapy for large liver tumors.
