Dr. Lars Svensson — internationally renowned cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon specializing in the most complex surgeries on the heart and aorta. He leads a team of 230 surgeons and 175 residents at the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Svensson developed methods aimed at preventing stroke and paralysis after cardiac surgeries, restoring normal function of the spinal cord and kidneys during major cardiac interventions, techniques for aortic valve repair, methods to reduce postoperative wound infections, and performed operations for aortic arch surgery (the “Elephant Trunk” procedure).
