Tan Ek Khun

Dr. Tan Ek Khun — the only certified abdominal transplant surgeon in Singapore recognized by the Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council. He also specializes in oncological surgery of the liver, pancreas, bile ducts, and gallbladder.

Dr. Tan is the first in Singapore to perform a small intestine transplant from a living donor. He heads the living donor liver transplantation program at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He treats primary liver cancer and metastases. He performs the Whipple procedure—a complex surgery for removing pancreatic cancer, during which the surgeon removes part of the pancreas and adjacent organs, then reconstructs the digestive system. He employs minimally invasive approaches (robot-assisted and laparoscopic) to reduce blood loss and speed up recovery.
