HOTEL DESCRIPTION

The Blue Lagoon Resort is a unique, environmentally sustainable ecosystem located among black volcanic rocks in Iceland’s geothermal zone. Here, seawater and underground freshwater naturally mix, forming a thermal spring with a temperature of around 37°C. The geothermal water is rich in minerals, silica, and rare blue and green algae that give the lagoon its characteristic sky-blue color and have a pronounced healing effect.

The Blue Lagoon resort includes two hotels:

Silica Hotel

The boutique hotel consists of 35 rooms. It is decorated in light tones with panoramic windows and terraces. All rooms feature a private bathroom, king-size bed, blackout curtains, Smart TV, coffee machine, minibar, and access to the private lagoon — The Silica Lagoon. Room categories include:

  • Moss Deluxe King (26 m²)
  • Silica Deluxe King (26 m²)

Moss Restaurant — a Michelin-starred restaurant located at The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland. Under the direction of Chef Aggi Sverrisson, it offers a modern interpretation of Icelandic cuisine. The tasting menu features lamb, Atlantic seafood, as well as vegetables and herbs grown in geothermal greenhouses. The interior is designed in light tones and minimalist Scandinavian style, with panoramic windows overlooking the lava fields and blue waters of the lagoon.
The restaurant is open in the evenings only.

Lava Restaurant was named for its unique origin — it is literally built into a volcanic lava cliff. On the roof, there is a viewing terrace with unique lagoon views. The restaurant serves Icelandic and international cuisine made from local ingredients. There is an à la carte menu and a children’s menu.

Spa Restaurant is also located within The Retreat Spa. It offers light dishes, beverages, and desserts for guests relaxing after treatments.

Blue Café — a cozy, casual café located at the lagoon’s exit. It offers fresh meals, pastries, and sushi. Vegan and vegetarian options are available, as well as takeaway meals in eco-friendly packaging. A great place for a snack before or after bathing, with lagoon views.

In Water Bar — a bar located directly in the water. Guests can enjoy drinks without leaving the lagoon. The menu includes both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages: from beer and wine to juices and icy slushes.

Complimentary drinking water fountains with ice-cold water are available throughout the lagoon.

WELLNESS CENTERS

Blue Lagoon Spa

The heart of the Blue Lagoon Spa complex is the geothermal lagoon itself. The wellness programs are based on the use of its natural resources: mineral salts, silica mud, and marine algae, which have a powerful regenerating effect. Treatments include massages, salt scrubs, contrast showers, and body wraps using the hotel’s own Blue Lagoon Skin Care products — all set against a backdrop of black lava rocks under the open Icelandic sky.

Blue Lagoon Dermatology Clinic

A five-minute walk from the lagoon lies the Blue Lagoon Dermatology Clinic. It specializes in treating psoriasis and eczema through bathing in geothermal water and ultraviolet light therapy. Treatment begins with a shower using algae extract and mineral gel, followed by immersion in the thermal pool. During bathing, guests apply silica mud to their skin for cleansing and renewal, while marine algae nourish and soften it. Mineral salts have a soothing and strengthening effect on the entire body, helping relieve stress and chronic fatigue.
