The BIOOCUS CGT Medical Center in Tianjin Perennial Medical City is a specialized medical institution focused on the use of cell and gene technologies for cancer treatment. The center is part of the Tianjin Perennial Medical City multidisciplinary medical campus, which allows for a full cycle of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation in one space.
The main medical specialization of the center is personalized cell therapy. Since its founding in 2016, more than 1,600 patients from 50 countries around the world have undergone CAR-T therapy here. The center uses CAR-T cell technology enhanced with interleukin-15 (IL-15), which provides more effective tumor tissue infiltration, prolonged survival of modified T-cells and resistance to antigen escape — key factors determining long-term treatment success.
The center’s clinical results demonstrate high efficacy: for hematological malignancies, initial remission reaches 80—90 percent, and long-term complete remission reaches 40—60 percent, with an overall response rate exceeding 95 percent. For solid tumors, the disease control rate ranges from 60 to 92 percent depending on the nosology. In the treatment of melanoma using TIL therapy, the response rate reaches 40 percent with an 80 percent tumor reduction.
An important indicator of treatment quality is the safety profile: the majority of patients experience only a mild degree of cytokine release syndrome, and no cases of severe neurological complications or deaths have been recorded in the center’s large clinical trials.
The treatment process is organized according to the principle of a multidisciplinary approach, combining several specialized areas. Surgical and interventional oncology is represented by minimally invasive methods — NanoKnife, cryoablation, radiofrequency ablation and laparoscopic operations, which minimize the invasiveness of interventions and shorten the recovery period.
Medical oncology and immunotherapy at the center are developing with a high level of expertise in the treatment of gastrointestinal, lung and breast cancer.
The radiotherapy department is equipped with TOMO, Gamma Knife, VMAT, SBRT and ART systems, and in the future — BNCT and proton therapy technologies.
Nuclear medicine provides PET/CT diagnostics and targeted radionuclide therapy opportunities. The structure is completed by supportive medicine units, including nutritional support, psychotherapy and reconstructive surgery, which allows for a comprehensive approach to patient recovery after primary treatment.
After completion of therapy, patients remain under remote supervision of the center’s specialists.
