Mount Elizabeth Hospitals are two multidisciplinary clinics in Singapore with a 45-year history and JCI international accreditation. The first Mount Elizabeth Hospital opened in 1979 in Singapore’s central Orchard district. In 2012, the second clinic, Mount Elizabeth Novena, opened, where advanced technologies are implemented: robotic surgery, artificial intelligence diagnostic systems, and a unified electronic patient medical record.

The Mount Elizabeth network is a pioneer in cardiac surgery innovations. The cardiac surgery departments at both hospitals are equipped with modern devices, including Impella (mechanical heart support for high-risk operations) and hybrid operating rooms with integrated CT and MRI systems, allowing surgeons to observe the patient’s heart in real time.

In 2019, the hospital introduced the Robotic PCI program (robot-assisted coronary intervention with the da Vinci system). Alongside traditional coronary bypass grafting, the facility offers MitraClip — a minimally invasive procedure for mitral valve repair without open surgery, and Pulsed Field Ablation — an innovative technology for arrhythmia treatment.

The Parkway Cancer Centre at Mount Elizabeth, led by Dr. Ang Peng Tiam, offers innovative treatment methods. TomoTherapy is a radiation therapy that uses a 360-degree approach, unattainable with traditional methods. Gamma Knife is a stereotactic radiosurgery with sub-millimeter precision. The combined use of TomoTherapy and Gamma Knife is a unique achievement for treating rare tumors at the skull base.

The center offers modern chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy. It features revolutionary diagnostic equipment: NAEOTOM Alpha (2024) — Southeast Asia’s first photon-counting CT scanner, producing clear images of tumors a few millimeters in size with minimal radiation exposure (crucial for patients with shortness and children). PET-MRI Biograph mMR — Asia’s first system performing both MRI and PET scans simultaneously, allowing doctors to visualize organs’ structure and metabolic activity.

The neurosurgery department at Mount Elizabeth specializes in complex brain and spinal surgeries, stroke treatment, and management of cerebral aneurysms. An intraoperative MRI scanner allows neurosurgeons to visualize brain structures in real time during operations. Awake Craniotomy is a unique procedure where the patient remains conscious during parts of brain tumor removal surgery (rare and complicated procedure). The department is also equipped with Gamma Knife for radiosurgery and PET-MRI for preoperative mapping.

Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital is renowned for its orthopedic program utilizing robotic systems. RoboDoc is used for total knee replacements with perfect fit, while MAKOplasty is a robotic-assisted system for partial knee replacements.

Mount Elizabeth conducts transplant surgeries, including liver and kidney transplants from living donors, heart transplants for end-stage heart failure, and bone marrow and stem cell transplants. All these programs utilize hybrid operating rooms with intraoperative imaging control and modern immunosuppression methods.

Mount Elizabeth Fertility Centre is an assisted reproduction center offering IVF and ICSI, egg freezing, donor programs, surrogacy, and preimplantation genetic testing.

The obstetrics department specializes in high-risk pregnancies and modern childbirth assistance. Both hospitals received the WHO’s Baby Friendly Hospital status in 2018 for their commitment to breastfeeding.
