Professor Michael von Bergwelt-Baildon is a distinguished German specialist in hematology and medical oncology and Director of the Department of Medicine III at LMU Klinikum Munich. He is ranked among the top 100 oncologists in Germany.
His clinical and academic work focuses on modern immuno-oncology, cellular therapies, and the treatment of patients with hematologic and malignant diseases. Professor von Bergwelt-Baildon has a particular interest in innovative anticancer therapies, including immunotherapeutic agents, bispecific antibodies, and CAR T-cell therapy. He also specializes in the management of immunocompromised patients and complications associated with cancer and anticancer treatment.
Professor von Bergwelt-Baildon studied medicine and human biology at the Universities of Freiburg and Paris and completed postgraduate training in internal medicine, hematology, oncology, infectious diseases, emergency medicine, and intensive care at the University Hospital of Cologne. He subsequently received advanced research training in immunology at Harvard University and Stanford University. Professor von Bergwelt-Baildon is actively involved in the development of translational immuno-oncology and coordinates the Interventional Immunology Network at LMU Klinikum.
