Karlovy Vary is one of the oldest balneological resorts in Europe, with a history of sanatorium treatment spanning more than 600 years. The main natural resource of the city is mineral water, which forms at a depth of about 2500 meters and reaches the surface through 15 springs with temperatures ranging from 30 to 73°C. Its composition includes more than 40 trace elements: sodium, calcium, magnesium, sulfates and bicarbonates.
Sanatorium treatment is based on two methods: drinking cures and therapeutic baths using local mineral water. The Luxury Spa Hotel Olympic Palace 5* has its own balneological center. The format of the stay at the resort can be chosen from two options: take a full sanatorium course with medical consultation and daily prescriptions, or undergo individual procedures.
The resort is suitable for patients who are recommended treatment for chronic diseases of the liver, gallbladder and pancreas, metabolic disorders (including elevated uric acid and insulin resistance), diseases of the joints and spine without exacerbation. Drinking mineral water therapy is used during the recovery period after abdominal surgery and for functional gastric disorders with reduced secretion.

Olympic Palace Balneological Center
The Olympic Palace Balneological Center is equipped with diagnostic and physiotherapy equipment and specializes in comprehensive sanatoriumtreatment. Medical support for patients is provided by a doctor, head of the balneology and rehabilitation department with 34 years of medical experience.
Treatment begins with mandatory diagnostics: an initial examination, blood test and ECG. If necessary, consultations with specialists (vertebrologist, urologist, pediatrician) and extended examinations: ultrasound of the abdominal cavity, blood vessels, thyroid gland and soft tissues. Based on the results, the doctor draws up an individual treatment plan.
The center’s main specializations are gastrointestinal diseases, metabolic disorders and functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Patients have access to more than 100 procedures, the main ones are:

Olympic Palace Wellness Center
The infrastructure of the Olympic Palace Wellness Center includes: a pool with a bubble bench, counter-current, massage jets and a water volcano, as well as a separate hydromassage bath for 6 people. Patients have access to Finnish, herbal and Turkish saunas, a salt cave, and a fitness zone.
The Olympic Palace Wellness Center offers procedures that complement the medical programs of the balneo center:
- Rituals and wraps: Anti-cellulite complex, Japanese “Hanakasumi” ritual with foot acupressure, anti-stress treatment with head massage, salt scrub, seaweed procedures, paraffin and mud wraps for hands.

Sanatorium treatment is contraindicated in acute infectious and febrile conditions, malignant neoplasms, systemic blood diseases, active tuberculosis, severe cardiovascular disorders (decompensated heart failure, unstable angina), thrombosis, epilepsy, mental disorders in the acute stage, and pregnancy. Acute skin diseases are also a contraindication.

The pool at the Olympic Palace center uses fresh water that has undergone a purification and heating system. However, all therapeutic baths and hydromassage procedures in the balneological center are carried out using natural mineral water supplied directly from the Karlovy Vary springs.
The resort is located on Castle Hill, in close proximity to the sanatorium area of Karlovy Vary. The distance to the nearest colonnade is about 150 meters, and to the main drinking galleries — no more than a 5-7 minute walk.
The resort operates year-round. In spring and autumn, there are fewer visitors at Luxury Spa Hotel Olympic Palace 5*, which provides more comfortable conditions for treatment. In summer, it is convenient to combine wellness programs with walks along the therapeutic trails. In winter, all types of procedures are available, including mineral baths and saunas.
The optimal duration of treatment is from 7 to 14 days. During this time, a lasting therapeutic effect is achieved. For detoxification and rehabilitation programs, up to 21 days may be required.
